Jan-Frederik Carl replied to Gerd Prengel's discussion The Hiker
"Hello Gerd, a song which shows your fine talent! Somehow it has a folk touch. I don't know how the song sounded before, but I think the cello comes just at the right time when the piece needs some kind of change. And it works well together with…"

Dane Aubrun replied to Gerd Prengel's discussion The Hiker
"A nice song. Yes, the cello makes a contrast at around 1'16" before taking up with the oboe again, half a minute later. I liked the way the oboe seemed to anticipate the changing harmony, coming across almost as a syncopation.  Very…"

The Hiker

Usually I compose in classical style but recently I found some pop-like songs which i wrote 20 years ago or more. This one is from 1978, actually my first composition when I was 17. Yesterday I added an Cello instrumental in the middle. The lyrics are inspired from the Schubert song 'The Wanderer"www.gerdprengel.de/The_Hiker.mp3What do you think?GerdSee More

Here I'd like to share with you my second string quartett's first movement. I think it's very melodious with some intersting counterpoint passages in the development section. Gerd Prengel replied to Gerd Prengel's discussion Symphony in C-Major - from fragments of Mendelssohns 6th symphony
"Dear Ingo, thank you for a appreciative  words! I will try to comment more on piece which are presented here, but I must admit that I can't really much say to pieces of a modern style with few exceptions. The most modern composers I can…"

Gerd Prengel replied to 8Rivers's discussion Prophet of mercy (soundtrack)
"This is indeed absolutely beautiful how you build up this scenery like a rising of the sun. I love also the instruments you use and how you use them - a fantastic mix of western and eastern music. . But the ending I think  is all too sudden - I…"

Ingo Lee replied to Gerd Prengel's discussion Symphony in C-Major - from fragments of Mendelssohns 6th symphony
"Hi Gerd - I agree that we should pay more attention to your work. You are an accomplished composer and you have a very high quality body of work from what I have heard.  This piece is certainly impressive. It is extensive but highly detailed…"

Gerd Prengel replied to Gerd Prengel's discussion Symphony in C-Major - from fragments of Mendelssohns 6th symphony
"I am a bit surprised that there has been only one response to this work where I had put in much labour and to me this work means very much to me, since it has also quite a musical historic significance, containing the last symphonic output by…"

Gerd Prengel replied to Saul Gefen's discussion Psalms 23 - Green Pastures
"Dear Saul, I think it's wonderful when you try to compose a song on the Word of the LORD, a 3000 year old psalm by David. The hiking of the shepard with his sheep in the countrysid comes through here, but I think the different moods of the…"

Dane Aubrun replied to Gerd Prengel's discussion String quartett IV. Allegro vivacce
"That came as a surprise. The performance is indeed polished and brings out the complex scoring well. Others seem to have trouble balancing the dynamics even with this software. I didn't comment on the score because there was nothing to say...…"

Gerd Prengel replied to Timothy Smith's discussion Tongues Of Angels

Gerd Prengel replied to Gabriele's discussion Score for Lotte Reiniger's silhouette movie "Cinderella" for piano, choir, and orchestra

Gabriele replied to Gerd Prengel's discussion String quartett IV. Allegro vivacce
"Well, Gerd, you're not a surprise anymore. So it is your mastery of counterpoint. The movement soon turns into a baroque-early classic style, which I think fully embrace Beethoven's spirit, given his devotion to Handel. Another great work.…"
