Hi folks,I wrote music many years ago, when I was at school.  We had two synths (Roland D50 and Ensoniq ESQ-1) and a hardware sequencer (Roland MC500 Mk 2).  So I would write music and record stuff…Continue

"Whichever one it is, the strings handle the second and third beat waltz rhythm, which actually is pretty common I think in waltzes, and it's very effective, so this would work well with just strings."

"Thanks for the feedback Michael.  Interesting you hear similarities with my other pieces.  Genre-wise they're a bit all over the place, and I don't think I ever stick to any kind of diatonic scale very well (from the 2nd bar…"

"Thanks Kjell.  Funny thing is it was meant to be creepy when I wrote it.  It was creepier before, but someone commented about the left hand being too repetitive, so I added more syncopation.  Now it sounds too happy!  Maybe…"

"Has a certain charm, Disco. Similar harmonic feel to other pieces by you here. As for orchestration, I can hears strings doing the melody very nicely. There is the problem of what to use for the waltz rhythm. Horns come to mind, but wind players…"

"I find it appealing with interesting chords. I can feel the joy of the piano player, very nice sound font. Spontaneously I would go for a string orchestra. I did a waltz in that way once, first piano and then string orchestrated.  Well…"

Disconnectica replied to Disconnectica's discussion Waltz of the Dancing Fools
"Thanks for the feedback Kevin.  You know, originally it was worse, with the left hand being very regimented.  I added more syncopation after that and now the left hand varies rhythm somewhat, but I guess not enough.  I wasn't…"

Kevin riley replied to Disconnectica's discussion Waltz of the Dancing Fools
"Hi It has an interesting melodic line in the right hand but after a while the 1,2,3 in the left hand got a bit tedious for me.  I am sure when orchestrated it will have more happening in the accompaniment.  I realise that it is a waltz and…"

Disconnectica replied to OscoBosco's discussion My short original berceuse with melody
"Very nice, quite melancholy.  Could maybe do with more dynamic changes/variation along the way, but I don't even know what a berceuse is, so take that with a grain of salt :)  Maybe that's part of that style. Ha, I just looked…"

"Thanks for the feedback Gav! I guess by three notes you mean the tonic, 3rd and 5th?  I count 4 notes for that part, but you're right it moves around them a lot.  I like the melody though.  In the middle part, you're right…"

Gav Brown replied to Disconnectica's discussion The Remaining Rag (ragtime & boogie piano solo)
"Hi D, The opening section of ragtime has some interesting chords, it felt to me like more could have been done melodically on top of them, the "3 notes over and over again" melody has kind of been done to death and that aspect did not hold…"

I wrote music many years ago with two synths and a hardware sequencer and always wanted to get back to it. Finally here I am! Luckily still have most of my old MIDI data. I'm revamping my old pieces as well as writing new ones.

I play piano, but am out of practice now. Aside from occasional vocals, my pieces are all virtual, but I try to make them sound like real instruments. I've got a couple of full production vocal tracks, some ragtime/boogie pieces, and some solo piano pieces in various styles.

It's all over the place, which is partly why I've gone with the name Disconnectica.
