The trick is that if you *love* music but do not *love* film, you aren't going to be very satisfied as a composer for film (or TV, or whatever...).
You have to have passion for both. It amazes me how many "film composers" cannot name for me their T…
Hey Josh!

Mike,
Ives is one of my all-time fave composers. I also think Steve Reich is someone who challenges the boundaries of what we might be used to.

About Me:
DEANE OGDEN is an award-winning composer who has written the music to over twenty feature films including THE SENSEI, DREAMS ON SPEC, IN THE EYES OF A KILLER, and THE WAY HOME. Also very active in music for television, Deane wrote the orchestral themes for Michael Phelps' record-breaking gold medal run during the 2008 OLYMPIC GAMES, which was the most-viewed event in American television history.
Deane is a top-call session drummer, and has recorded and performed with artists like TINA TURNER, CHRIS CORNELL, SEAL, and RIHANNA, and has appeared on numerous telecasts including THE AMERICAN MUSIC AWARDS, THE TONIGHT SHOW WITH JAY LENO, and the GRAMMY AWARDS.
Deane is also the founder and co-leader of the popular SCOREcastOnline.com, a podcast and website dedicated to mentoring emerging film composers worldwide.
Based in Los Angeles, Deane consumes an amazingly unhealthy amount of sugar, and routinely gets dragged out of the studio by his girlfriend to experience sunlight and fresh air, completely against his will and better judgment.
Deane, I saw your website link and was interested in it, but I can't figure out how to sign up for the site from the main page so I can start interacting on there!
Well I have added more music now. But none of it compares to your music. Your music is really great. I dont really know the "lingo for what to say about it other than it is breathtaking in production and ingenuity.
Thank you for letting me have a listen to what real music sounds like. :)
I just joined here and added a one of the classical compositions I have recently completed, not mastered in any way. Please have a listen and then tell me what you think of it. I truly dont know where to start in the world of music and some advice would be great.
