Here was a fun little bit of a music experiment. Mainly I was exploring time signatures and Lydian mode. Can you distinguish the three time signatures used in this piece? As far as electronica goes,…Continue

"Interesting project serving as a great inspiration for the composer being reflected in this soft and beautiful piano tune. Although impossible to grasp that particular deep message from the music alone, I appreciate the music as such. Maybe the…"

David Lilly replied to Renan Javier Cabrera's discussion Conceptual track for Disney's Mulan
"The mix fails you at about 1:30 in. There is too much noise going on and the sound comes off as super limited.  The instrumentation sounds good, sounds like top notch film scoring sample packs, some percussion packs and a nice strings sampling…"

"Light"This is going to be the end track of a 2 year (on and off, mind you) album I've been working on titled "Lightseeker."All pad and synth work pretty much done with the Jupiter-8. (Albeit, a very accurate plug in of one)A blend of mixing work experimentation with musical consistency- impossible for one's own self critique though.Always incredibly gracious for suggestions on improvement- in the notes or the mix.…See More

"Great use of loops. Nic mix. Loved the piano motif through the 1st 2/3 to about the 3:00 mark. Nice, pleasant, airy. I liked the last part as well where the piano comes back in again. To my ears, where this makes a departure at around the 3:00 mark…"

"Hi David, A pleasant tune in a pop-classical vein. For those familiar with it (like me), the opening bass ostinato-like figure is somewhat evocative of Vince Guaraldi's Cast Your Fate to the Wind. Thanks for sharing! Gav"

Dane Aubrun replied to David Lilly's discussion Some Normalcy
"Yes, nice and relaxing and the quietening/break at 3 '00" seemed about right. My relaxation was a little undone by the part that followed on at 3'11". It felt ominous; baleful at first. A deep thick bass and it sounded like the…"

"It's always so hard to respond when someone asks, What Could Be Better? Usually, people just tell you what they themselves would do. But that is not necessarily very helpful, let alone better. We all do things so differently. While this is a…"

Sunday

Here was a fun little bit of a music experiment. Mainly I was exploring time signatures and Lydian mode. Can you distinguish the three time signatures used in this piece? As far as electronica goes, this may be one of my favorites I've written. I think it really captured the mood I was feeling today. Always really value feedback from fellow composers, thank you!Sunday on Soundcloud See More

Dane Aubrun replied to David Lilly's discussion A Mid Summer Garden (I'm So Sorry To Those I've Hurt)
"Nice as an ambient piece. When it faded down a little toward 2'00 I was expecting something different but it was in the same vein as the opening. Similarly at 3'20" it seemed to get static but with nothing to keep the flow going. The…"

Gremlin- a musical story (new project)

Starting a new music project. It is going to be a "story" of sorts, a musical journey on Soundcloud with timed releases of each track, almost like a tv series. "Gremlin" is the story of a man who tried to kill himself after his girl left him for another man, which he had suspected for quite some time. However, his suicide attempt is futile and fails. The man begins anew, but with an uncertain future ahead. Each track is composed in an electronic improvisational fashion - the next track in the…See More
