"Hi Dave Welcome to the forum. Thought "good will" had a nice feel to it. Also enjoyed your Methodist song. Is that your operatic voice. Now you need to learn modulation to kick it up a gear (like I need to do better). Cheers Mike L"

"The only critique I have is that it was over too soon! Breathtaking in its sweep up, like a vision of the tide coming in, pulling up and out to see the swelling waves. Your image was perfect. I envy your ability to shape your composition to carry…"

"You're right - 3.5 - because the tambourine is never picked up by the other instruments :-) Nice."

"I like electronic music that is not dully repetitive or whacking damn rhythm. FoF is excellent. It hold together the overall intent, with rhythm supporting instead of driving the music. Thanks."

Dave Moorman replied to Bruce Pearson's discussion Survey and discussion- what to you use?
"I am quite new at all this - I use MuseScore. I don't know what DAW is, and could use some help and advice. My music is more of a sketch than an actual, full sound piece. I like MuseScore because it is free - and quite capable compared to the…"

A newbee after all these years.

Just to introduce myself: I have been writing music since I was seven - drawing my own staff on paper to try to record my fiddling on the piano. My "audience" was impressed at how straight the lines were. [sigh]I play the piano, but read music like a first-grader reads writing - so I have to memorize the song then bring it up to speed. Learned basic music theory on my dad's electronic organ (what with chords and the "pointer system") And I composed a number of pieces - including our wedding…See More

"Mood well done. Felt all swirling moisture. Was waiting for a sudden crash after the silence - but who am I to be critical. Did you import wave sounds - or is all this synthesized?"

About Me (Must include biographical information about you as a composer):
I am a retired United Methodist Clergy who is now able to pursue my hobby as a composer. I have been creating songs for some 60 years - from little ditties on the piano when I was in the second grade to my wedding music in 1971 to long works in the last 30 years.

I also have programmed computers, and constructed my own music processor on the Commodore 64 in the mid 90s. This required MIDI connections with several keyboards. During the last decade I discovered MuseScore, and my music has flourished. With it, I have written or arranged numbers for our church choirs.

I am quite new at this, and have little knowledge of sampling and other techniques. My music now is limited to what MuseScore can produce. I am joining this forum site to learn more and get some feedback for my efforts.
