"Lucas - The viola uses the alto clef: This looks like it is really written for two violins You also have the viola playing above the violin in measures 1, beat 4 through measure 2, beat 2 which does the same at measures 10 & 11.…"
"There are some pleasing sounds among this set. It's a pity that you are not (yet!) able to make Finale 'speak' more coherently and expressively. It takes a lot of imagination to conjure up how these might sound live - a few slight…"
"Sounds very mature and coherent! I agree with Gav, it would be really useful to hear these even with badly emulated voices... On the other hand I did really enjoy the harmonies especially on II (a) Lily, I think that would sound quite exquisite with…"
"Gav - Thank you for your input. The recordings are limited because they are actually Finale just playing the files.
The dynamics contrasts between pieces would be more apparent with real voices. My skills at making Finale do more is limited. I…"
I listened to the whole set twice as well as a few sections more than that. First, let me say that choral music is not a strength of mine, and I find it challenging to 'get' when there aren't any singers. So my impressions…"
Hello. My name is Bryan Stratton, I have been composing for over 30 years. I studied with Northwest composer Greg Short. About Me (Must include at least one paragraph of biographical information about you as a composer) - blank or minimal answers on this line will cause your request to be rejected. Include a link to your website if you have one.
I graduated from Western Washington University with a degree in Music Education. I have been composing since I was in Junior College (1980). My piece, "Second Coming" for wind ensemble and solo trumpet was performed by the Rainier Chamber Winds and played on Classical King FM. I have a strong theory knowledge. In the early 2000s, I assisted Sam Jones who was the Composer in Residence for the Seattle Symphony when he was in charge of the Young Composers Forum. My day job is as the Circulation Supervisor for the Lake Stevens Library, but I also teach private lessons in piano, guitar & voice.
None at this time.
