Any chance you could provide a short biography and perhaps a sample of his work? Youtube usually has good examples of composers' works. Also, reference materials available in libraries are useful to know about as well. Thanks.

My Musical Future Looks bright!

Well recently I've been at interviews seen as I may be lucky enough to go and study composition at either RWCMD,RNCM or BC (depending on who lets me in).

So this means I'm going to be surrounded by such an awesome musical atmosphere and for those of you out there who listen to my music will be glad to know i'll be getting more of them recorded on real instruments as well instead of sibelius sounds so wish me luck and hopefully I'll becoming a better composer because of it.

this is more of a request than a blog

I have an Idea to make a globalised gloria so it'll essentially have as many different world instruments in to represent the different continents and what I really need is info on different worlds instruments and how they work e.g. gamelan or aboriginal music so any help will be greatly appreciated thanks composers

Good news People

Firstly my mass is gonna be performed by a local choir so i'll hopefully be able to get it recorded for you all to listen to and love.

Secondly my symphony is almost done :D just got one movement left to do and once that is done just need to find an orchestra :S that is the most difficult bit any suggestions people on orchestras willing to play new stuff. If you do just reply to this or email me or message me any of those three.

Thanks

My Mass

I have got this up and brewing at the moment and its a mass its in 4 movements: agnus dei, sanctus, kyrie and gloria. Everything is done except the gloria. The agnus dei is for 2 sopranos and an alto unaccompanied. The sanctus is a solo for tenor with chorus and string group. The kyrie is for chorus and string orchestra. The gloria will be for chorus and brass only seen as the string groups don't give the same epicnesses the gloria needs

Satire's Climax is sweet, nice resolve as well. Great idea on syntax respectively.

BTW, I uploaded `Mt. Lassen Thermal Spring` so as to have another minimalist piece to compare to Eerie Quiet. Scored for octet. Reg string quartet and four woodwinds...Fl, Cl, Ob and Bsn...

Mount Lassen is in a national park in Northern California. I remember going there 20 years ago, and watching the bubbling mud caldrons releasing steam. The mountain last erupted in 1947. This was the inspiration for the piece...

Yes, and that is tough... Its actually for an odd chamber ensemble with Cellos, Horns, Flutes, (Oboe/Cor Ang.)

Me too. But where to push it so it could be performed by live folks....

That's sad about the marine band not being there. My wife's uncle used to teach there many years ago. My wife's mother lived in Westgate for a few years back in the 90's. I loved it there in Thanet. Many a Sunday lunch at the pub in Minster :(
I'll look forward to your orchestration of Reflections

Now if you create a nice string orchestration around the piano lead in "Reflections" well it would be really good as an underscore and/or credits track for film.

Hey Ben,
I'm trying to read your avatar but my eyes are failing and I can't read anyway.
Is it Brass Band music, seeing as you're not far from Deal and the marines :))
