So this is a relatively new composition I titled Forgotten. I'd like critical feedback on the quality of writing, orchestration (this is a big one) and the overall mix. I'll be the first to say it,…Continue

Well my true name is Paul Cating, however I choose to go by Anthony Locke for my work as a composer. I do this to separate my interests as a singer/songwriter from that of a composer. Composing, in the more traditional sense, is something very new to me. I started as a drummer when I was 7 years old, I moved on to guitar, vocals and then piano. But I just had to keep branching out and experimenting. I found myself delving into the world of sound libraries.

One of the things I love most about composing, composing for film in particular, is the story that the music tells. If it's a good film, or a good trailer, it should be able to stand on it's own, but it's the music that adds the magic. Like good seasoning on a well cooked steak (or meal of your choice.) Their's something very rewarding about creating something that brings someone else's work to life.

As an exercise, I like to compose to trailers without using the voice over. I like to try and tell the story of what's happening with only the visuals and the music.

I also enjoy spending time listening to music in general. From funk to classical and everything in-between. I absolutely love film scores and I love writing them. They're so interesting because in many ways, musically, on their own, they don't often make sense. But when you put them to film, they work beautifully.

My goal here is to learn, to share, to network, and better my music. My dream is to compose professionally, I've got a long way to go but I'll work hard to get there.

Thanks for reading,
