My First Violin

Posted on December 26, 2011 at 12:02pm 2 Comments

Santa brought me my first violin this Christmas.  I was completely surprised....Just kidding. ;)

On the day it arrived I had to restring it because the G string slipped out of the fine tuner.  On day 2 I broke the E string and needed to restring it.  After rubbing rosin on the bow I was surprised it was still slippery. I soon found out that I needed to scratch that rosin cake.  The first time I tuned it took about 20 minutes and I suspect it was half tuned.  I was afraid to brake the…

Techno fragment

I have been working on the same phrase for a few months.  In my effort to deal with writer's block I have taken a fragment of my composition and mashed it up with techno phrases.  Robo%20Dance%201.mp3

Recording my first maracas sample, after much frustration and anticipation

Posted on April 24, 2011 at 3:00pm 2 Comments

Early this month for my birthday I received a lovely condenser microphone, an audiogram and a bouquet of wires XLR, speaker, adaptors, two Y's and a female coupler.  Actually I ordered the microphone first, but ordered the XLR cable later because I am such a newbie this is my first condenser microphone and I didn't know what wire to purchase.  There was a lot of waiting after I ordered all the wires because my town doesn't have a radioshack.   The wires came in 6 shipments! That is a lot of…

Thank you for your compliment regarding my talent. I sometimes doubt myself as a person and as a musician. I always welcome a confidence boost.

No Radioshack in you town. Oh no! If I had to wait on mail for my cabling I would just die.

Hi Ann,

I enjoyed viewing your page-very creative!!!!  Yes, I do play several instruments.  I never became a competent vina player, but could get around a bit.  As for the other instruments well, that is a different story.  Have you ever written anything for the harp?

Thanks for the encouragement Ann. BTW, I found I could not upload an MP3 to the music player here, if I saved the file with a VARIABLE bit-rate. It has to be a constant bit-rate MP3.
