great shame that no-one seems to be posting here. it's not as if there are a lot of general forums just for composers where works can be discussed. But I thought I'd give it one more try. My most recently completed work is a piano quartet -- my 2nd in fact. unlike the first which was very much influenced by Faure, this one is more schizophrenic with both exuberantly joyful and much more tragic phases (in fact one composers who was writing a poem about Auschwitz found a resonance there, though for me that goes a bit far!). This site has already reached the maximum number of users for whatever the cheapest plan it's currently on. That's why there has been no one else joining in.
I've also been busy with other things and haven't had much time for composing lately.
But regardless, it doesn't seem to be worth the time to participate if the future of this site is in question. It seems that nobody has stepped up to take the reins, and nobody has noticed that we've already hit the maximum number of users, or nobody has bothered to act, so it truly looks like this site is moribund. Which is a real pity; it was (a previous incarnation of) this site that inspired me to compose in the way I do today. I would never have arrived here without the great discussions we had, even if things got a bit out of hand sometimes in previous incarnations of this site. But it really doesn't seem worth investing time into participation here if its future is uncertain.
well my answer to this is of course the forum does now have a new format which you've hopefully discovered. With luck new members and old will find it and we can get back to our enjoyable (if sometimes robsut) discussions of the past.

I have been feeling very concerned about the arts lately.... society has been driving away from genuine human art for the last few decades, but I'm genuinely concerned the unstoppable march of progress has just destroyed the reverse gear at the same time we lost this forum in its more open and populous form... Thank you for joining me in self-expression against the odds. Please never stop.
Doom and gloom out of the way: Thank you for sharing this music. The drama was compelling. Sometimes epic and empowering, sometimes anxiety-inducing, sometimes hitting rock-bottom, and other times SCREAMING F*** U. It was a true journey; never dull or predictable. It sits nicely with the rest of your catalogue, but has gone deeper emotionally than I have ever heard you so far.

I only just saw this Ollie -- i have not stopped by so much recently but I seem to miss posts anyway becuase of the way things are structured. I assume you're referring to the piano quartet? Glad you've enjoyed it anyway and I hope we'll be able to continue our discussionbs on the new forum which is very welcome.
Off-topic, but I've been very disappointed lately by how easily people just take the lazy way out and delegate their thinking to technology that clearly isn't ready for the role it assumes today. Scariest of all, people are ascribing attributes to this tech that it plainly does not have, to the point it's outright fanatical. It's absolutely insane. Where are the people who can still think on their own anymore?!
But anyway. That's neither here nor there. I, for one, will continue to compose in my own style, and will not delegate my thought process to a machine. We have enough slop flooding the internet, we don't need more. What we need is genuine human art, created by human volition and artistic expression, and not some forgery regurgitated from a machine.
so we're looking ofrward to you posting something on the new forum! Perhaps even something which isn't a fugue???
