Help compose the World's Longest Piece!

The rules:

Each composer gets up to 2 minutes of one section for which he/she is resposible. The composer will deliver a stereo audio file of that section. The composer will own his section of music, but must release it under a creative commons license, allowing it to be placed within the larger composition.

The music will not be for sale or license. If any money is generated from the work, that money will be given to a charity (voted on by the contributing composers.)

This is an unending work. Our hope is to have hundreds of composers work on it, and to always be adding new ones.

Each section should flow as well as possible into the next, therefore we are creating a pattern of simple transition rules for the composer to follow as much as they can.

Let's make history, baby.

Read Before Composing.

(we want a player here that will allow you to input your mp3 where it goes and do the crosfades accordingly. Leaving blank spaces and silence for the empty spaces that have yet to be composed. Anyone know how to do this?)

I'm game, just give me the score when it's my turn and tell me what you want.

Hey Dankk! Here's the prob too - when these groups were created, there was no auto 'follow' feature, so noone got notified when a response was posted in their group. Now there is, so some of the newer folks get notified. We need to get people to come back to their groups and select 'follow this group' so that they will be informed. Can you help spread the word in chat? I'll try to post about it in the forums.

Thanks!

Right - and you can do whatever you want in the middle! No deadline. Although I can make up one if it makes you feel motivated!
Phil Mortimer Comment by Phil Mortimer on October 30, 2009 at 2:58pm
What's the deadline?

Hi Chris, I'll take section 5. So, I start in Emaj at 90 bpm and finish in Bmaj at 120bpm?

Hey Phil! Now we put you in the 'Section Chart' :

Do you want 'Track 5?'
Phil Mortimer Comment by Phil Mortimer on October 29, 2009 at 8:57pm

there isnt enough advertisement about this group even here... muchless in other places!

i found this project by accident.. I, and a lot of other people dont go to the home page every time they log in, or much at all for that matter after they create an account. (i.e. 'favorites' in IE or Firefox and opera that take you to where you left off when you logged off --- or those , like myself that are online 24/7 that never log off...) it never goes to the home page at all. for example, I had to be told that the chat function was on the home page which is great, but what happens to chat when you leave? There isnt anything there that plainly says how to get to the chat after you leave that page. Nothing! I am not saying this is the fault of any person here.. i am saying this is a problem that should be addressed to ning if the option isnt there to let people know about things like chat, or this group in a way that isnt something that has to be searched out or found by accident. Like chat....

there should be admins pushing this in chat and in all forums. at LEAST once a week in forums and daily in chat. Post it in forums, say it in chat. Often.

that way.. there would at least be a basis for this site getting the word first and other sites as a secondary measure.

I dont agree with Marius' way of putting forth his opinion.. but i do agree with the message.. there simply arent enough people to get this thing going. And this has been an idea going on for quite some time now unless i am mistaken.

These ideas might or might not help, but I havent seen them employed yet, so who knows? Sorry if I have spoken out of place. It is a great idea and i am only trying to help. nothing more. :)
