Reading the first three items in the Discussion Forum, it seems that in view of the grossly unfair and greedy amount of commission and fees the managers and agents are asking, it would be very wise to not use a manager or agent at all. There`s nothing wrong with contacting the film producer him/herself to present your show reel. There would be nothing wrong with a little insistance either - it is the way of the 'hard sell', but a lot of humour, confidence, and humility is no doubt the way forward, together with finding where they lunch regularly in order to bump into them accidentally on purpose; and will without doubt, if your CV has credibility, be probably more successful (and cheaper) than the manager/agent route. You would be advised to split the music cut 50/50 with whoever from the film company asks you to sign the contract.
Just look at the amount of money footballers agents earn - it`s easy money considering some other member of staff will most probably do all the paper work.
Otherwise, you could be waiting for years just hoping for a call from the agnts. What`s more, they`re not likely to know very much about music to picture workings, whereas the producer does exactly, as it is he who pays for the tune.
So think more directly - go to the top, not the middle man!
