Music Composers Unite!
It has been such a long time since I posted on Composers' Forum... I'm ashamed!
Over the past few months I've been developing a great longing for orchestration of any kind. Of course I orchestrate my own work but it is almost like it is not enough for me any more. It is most probably because of the kind of work that I've been doing lately. I was trained "classically" (I hate calling myself that actually), and all of my earlier works were performed live and while I was studying I worked as an orchestrator for a local symphony orchestra.
Nowadays I'm mostly busy with commissions for projects that simply don't have the budget to have the music recorded live. Maybe if I'm lucky I get some studio time with a small ensemble if I can convince my client to pay out a little extra...
My point is that I've been considering working as an orchestrator for other composers. My problem is that I'm not quite sure how to approach it all. If anyone here has the time to offer me some advice, I would really appreciate it! How/where does one look for work as an orchestrator?
Thanks for reading!
