Music Composers Unite!

Hi All,

It's been a while since I posted anything in here...

Here is a piece I wrote after buying the Una Corda plug-in from Native Instruments (which I highly recommend by the way!)

Have a listen and let me know what you think, Feedback always welcome.

Cheers,

Joe

Love the sound and production and it's beautiful music. Is the viola sampled too? Not sure the pizzicato section works as well, though it's enjoyable. This is definitely marketable music.

I've now listened to some of your other music, it seems you like a slow and contemplative style. Have you composed anything that's a bit faster and more outgoing? You've got obvious skills. Just curious.

Hi Steve,

Thank you for the kind words! Yes the Viola is a sampled one from the East West Symphonic Orchestra set.

I see what you mean about the pizza section, my aim was to add some variety rather than constant arco throughout the piece. Any suggestions to alternatives?

Cheers,

Joe

I think the issue is the rhythm suddenly becomes half time in that section and stays that way after you go back to arco.

Here are a few more up-tempo piece of mine, Let me know what you think

Joe, there's some nice music there. My impression is that only Sophrosyne is a complete piece, the movie trailers are teaser pieces (nicely done), and the Piano Concerto is only the exposition and of the four it was the longest at 2:45. The problem with writing faster music is it's over quicker (unless you make it longer by writing more notes) and harder to play. I'm being just a bit facetious and glib, but those are the facts. If I was to offer advice (which of course you didn't ask for, but that's what we do here) it would be to work on writing a whole piece at a quicker tempo.

So if I can ask you to return the favor. Please have a listen to some of my music. I'd be interested to hear your comments. My soundcloud page has my more recent work (soundcloud.com/pantonality).
