Happy Halloween! :)

There is an exciting free course from Emory University: Introduction to Sound Design which begins January 28, 2013.

I have already signed up.

Thank you so very much for posting this. I am a beginner and am relying on self-teaching to help me until I can study composition in university, so any resources are a tremendous help.

Here is a site that has a lot of music theory journals.

Articles, music reviews, and general news about composers, composing, and composition. If you are not regularly visiting this site you do not have your figure on the pulse of the overall composition world.

Here is a site for those who want to up their theory game.
WARNING this is very advance theory:

This site is a complete guide to Schenkerian style of music analysis. This takes every aspect of music theory and applies it to music on a larger scale. This style of music analysis is also highly debated and only really applies to music of the Baroque, Classical, and Romantic eras. Though it is slowly becoming the standard in tonal music analysis, it is not without flaws. This site will guide you through this style of analysis.

Counterpoint, Harmony and Fugue lessons:

great resource that every growing composer should check :)

amazing links Tyler, thanks for sharing

There's also which has links to all sorts of competitions and opportunities.  I don't think I saw this earlier in the thread- my bad if I'm posting this a second time. is a very good ear training/harmony/clef reading practice tool as well.
