Composers' Forum

Music Composers Unite!

This is sort of a continuation from a different thread.

I have purchased this piano and I'm very happy with it. This is the latest technology in digital piano making. Would be interested to hear different perspectives about what people think about this instrument and whether they believe that instruments such as these do justice to music and music making in general. My personal impressions so far are very positive. One thing is for certain that technology will never be able to accurately create what an acoustic instrument can do, but the truth is that many music colleges are taking up these Yamaha instruments to their schools and are incorporating them in their every day teaching, composition, and performance series and projects.

Here's a short video that showcases the piano I purchased, I personally love this instrument very much. Besides its amazing capabilities and dynamics it's also so beautiful and refined. Retail is $8,995.00

Best Wishes,

I've been in many homes where there was a nice looking piano that rarely was played, it was just a piece of furniture.  These same homes would probably have classical music playing softly in the background ( and being ignored ) during their dinner parties.  We composers agonize over nuances of sound and the traditional intricacies of old art forms but the vast majority of people do not care at all about any of that, they just use it for casual decoration if they don't avoid it entirely.

Yamaha is a company that has been very successful for many years at supplying quality products that find a place in the market.  The Clavinova is a good looking and good sounding piano that will probably turn a profit because it pleases a certain percentage of the piano buying public.

But will the Clavinova take over the concert stage?  History has shown us that what technology can't do today, it will do tomorrow, it's just a matter of time.  But in the mean time we are blessed to have a treasure of choices and that makes me happy!

This is from someone who actually does this for a living he talks about the New Yamaha N3X digital piano. Apparently he doesn't think that this is fake or inappropriate...

Price $21,000.00

I'm glad he likes it. I probably would too. But it's still an electric piano.

No one is trying to deny that its electric, I thought that that was the entire point...

Cheers

HI Saul--

Very nice looking and sounding piano!

It seems this piano has MIDI  capabilities--MIDI In, Out, and Thru--so can you confirm that it can be used as a MIDI controller, and also can it be used as a playback device,  for playback of MIDI, or Notation files, from a sequencer or Notation program?

Thanks so much and enjoy your piano!!

Of course every home needs at least three pianos.  An acoustic for the ball room, a Clavinova for the patio, and another Clavinova for the study for when you need to practice with head phones on.

And this is the millennial's contribution to western civilization, electric pianos?  I thought by now we would flit around in flying cars.  This reminds me of their other contribution, the Bird, the little electric scooter.  Every time I see one I want to flip the Bird.

Flying cars would be a disaster, one just can imagine the sheer craziness of the traffic and the chaos that will follow if this ever becomes a reality. Electric pianos on the other hand, are harmless.
