Music Composers Unite!

This is the result of about 6 months constant work. I hope you all like this as much as I do. But I don't want to say too much yet. I've been lurking here for years and just now decided to take the plunge and join. Many of you have inspired me.

Hi Harold, this has some good things going for it - a nice and memorable melody, I like particularly how you put the brief space in at then end of the phrases, it is pleasant. Also, the general interplay of the instruments seemed to me to work quite well. The ending (including that space) is lovely, something I particularly look for, and which many composers seem not to have - a number of works I have listened to just stop in a rather abrupt fashion, but yours didn’t - well done! One area which I would have liked to see a little more in is in the realm of contrast - the piece is largely the same throughout, and by the time I got to the end, I was wanting to hear something new, either some variances in volume or perhaps something else. Overall, a nice work, and thanks for coming ‘out of the shadows of lurking’ and sharing it!

Thanks, Gav. I feel the piece might be too short to try to do too much with. Were I to write subsequent movements, surly more contrast would be in order. I'll keep it in mind.

Thank you, again.

Hi Harold, I'm glad you've decided to post here. I think your trio is well done, you have acquired a style with interesting phrasing and syncopation.  This works well for a piece of this length; I'm curious as to how you will expand and develop this.

I was drawn here by your interesting comments in Ashley's AI thread, I guess I expected something more traditional although this piece is conservative by today's standards I suppose. I'll post a comment there.

Good work!
