Russell Jalland.

Kit drums, electronic and acoustic. (All styles) Ethnic percussion, darabukka, dumbek, djembe. (Flamenco, North African, English, Irish folk, though individual approach as opposed to classical technique) Vibes to a basic standard. Strong improviser, creative, good ear, weak reader.

More interested in creative collaboration than commercial gain. I may need a strings, or clarinet for one of my pieces for instance and I can offer parts / percussion arrangements in return.

I work in Pro tools 8, have good mics ( AKG C414 etc) and PMC TB2AS monitoring. (Recent upgrades). I have access to good quality analogue recording if preferred.

Eastern percussion can be heard on my piece Endurance approx 2.56 mins in. This is an early recording of my first composition using average dynamic mics, in an entry level home studio, early engineering and production skill set, but you can get an idea of my playing. I'm UK based.

rate: $100 per 2 hours note: I play by ear and don't read music
Doug:

no offense as to the level of your playing .but at the rates you're asking, for a lot of work
your going to be somewhat handicapped by your non reading status . Maybe you could
elaborate on what kinds of things you can do by ear -and how much usable music
can you turn out in 2 hours ?
Phil,
I can write a symphony by ear. Of course that would require about a month. No- I certainly would not accept a project that requires reading music, which is exactly why I mentioned it. I do shy away from music that is merely 'usable'.
