Problem with Cubase SE (help needed)

One of my files (the Requiem) doesn't play anymore (the other files do). Only when I restart the PC and reload Cubase and the file will it play through from from start to finish. After that, when I'm working on it, the 'play cursor' will suddenly elasticate itself to the start and remain there. From then on, whether I try to move it with the 'play' button, fast-forward or even drag it physically eastbound, it always 'pings' back.

Does anybody recognise this sort of malfunction? If so, I'd be grateful for any advice.
