Music Composers Unite!

Does anyone know of a way to post one's music on their home page, other than using the Flash Player? Flash is one of the worst security risks out there, and is either no longer supported even by Adobe, or will soon not be.

I would like to have some of my music on my page, so people don't have to go to a site outside of the forum.

Thanks you,

Michael

There is no other way

Thanks Gav. Just so you know, Flash will end support at the end of this year. At that time, what is already an unsafe application will become even more unsafe.

I hope ning has a plan for this!

Hi Michael, I do check every now and then for what options Ning offers for upgrade. I haven't done this in a while and will take another look. I'll come back to this thread and post what I find -

If you just want a link to music which the person looking at your page can click on to hear it, it's easy.  Just get a link from an archive like SoundCloud or MuseScore.

If you want your page to start playing music automatically, I don't know how to do that, but I will remark that I absolutely hate web pages that play music automatically, regardless of the quality of the music.  And I know I'm not the only person who feels that way.

No, I don't want it to play automatically, just have it accessible so anyone interested can have a quick listen, without having to go somewhere else.

I do have links on my page (way on the bottom). That is a way to do it. but a player is nice. It's just that flash is notoriously unsafe. It will soon be completely unsecured, although people will still foolishly use it. So I would think that Ning would be thinking about how to replace it.

Hi Michael,

I checked with Ning about the upgrade option. It appears that they have changed their whole pricing structure upwards. In order to continue with our current cost ($599 a year), I would have to go down in storage. We currently have 500GB of storage, this would go down to 100GB. As we are currently at about 87GB used, this would mean we would be 87% full. I don't see an upgrade as a good option given that -
