Music Composers Unite!

Well this is the story. The sun is trying to climb up over the horizon, its rays of light pass through and over the tops of the mountains and trees, and lights the whole land. All the animals and humasn are relieved. Another night is over ;)

Silly story, but here is the music:

(Any comments on orchestration, composition and the whole is welcome!)

Thanks in advance

I like the piece Per. It is dramatically beautiful with large sweeps of sound, colorful, lush and full of life. It seems to be a piece that stands nicely on its own but perhaps would also fit nicely into an (epic) movie scene. Regardless, it is another lovely signature P-E composition. Thanks for brightening my day with it!

Very beautiful... sweeping and epic. It reminds me in many places of Aaron Copland's "Appalachian Spring" (which remains one of my favorite pieces of all time), in the blend of mellow, pastoral sections, and charged crescendo points. Excellent work!

If any critique at all I would offer is that your string attacks are a bit strong in some parts, but that really is a minor point.

Unfortunately Per, I've nothing to say in the way of constructive or instructive thoughts, but I enjoyed it very much. This and your last piece has me noticing and looking forward to your music. Very uplifting music.

Thanks a lot! I will be uploading a SAD piece now. I hope you feel that one has emotions well. (At least with the lyrics)... I might do a translation now, when posting or later

Hi Per-Erik, this is really a beautiful piece, and I am joining to all the good words.

If you are looking for a constructive critique, here it is. First, you slightly overuse the sol major key. May be it is worth to unexpectedly alter this somewhere to la-bemol major and then return, or even alter once more a semiton up. Second, there is not a distinctive culmination of the piece, which (I feel) should be somewhere near 3:30. I would even add some unexpected distinctive pauses in order to break the rhythm. Then, the theme si-la-sol at 2:45 and 3:01 would contrast better if played by violin solo. At last, the end of the piece is slightly odd; some more developed cadenza is expected here.

I really enjoyed the piece and would like to listen to it in a live performance.
