Music Composers Unite!
I like to compose short pieces on a regular basis, that I push myself to complete in 30 minutes or less. The last two I composed I thought were pretty decent, so I decided to orchestrate them into one piece. I couldn't really think of a good name, but I guess that doesn't really matter.
I do realize a lot of my influences after completing this piece. I am a big fan of Mahler, and wanted to attempt to emulate him. As well I hear aspects from the score to Band of Brothers, and funny enough, Little House of the Prairie (the show really has excellent music).
But hey, good composers borrow, great composers steal.
Nice melody! I like it.
Thanks for the comments.
Really for this one, I just wanted to orchestrate something. I feel like I don't do it enough. I probably should have put more effort into the transition.
Retrospectively looking at my piece, I feel like I have a long road to travel with my orchestrating, and I am going to put more effort into actual score study.
Very nice. I particularly like the adagio first 3 minutes. The beginning of the transition is ok, but as Bob said, I'm not sure if both pieces go together without some development. I like the abrupt changes in dynamics in the allegretto. I liked listening to it.
Their were good elements and some good orchestration. The moments where you have the first violins go from a middle C to a C 2 octaves above will be a stretch and I would consider changing that.
The only main issue I had is that it feels like two separate pieces that dont go together. Both sections are good on their own but together it feels forced.
Other than that, good piece. Great job.
Thanks everyone for the comments.
