Music Composers Unite!

Hi again,

nice to see the high activity is continuing in this forum. I have just listened to a few of the latest work and will listen more shortly.

Meanwhile I would like to post my latest work. It is a mix and rework and update of previous material.

Kjell,

it sounds great. I love the melancholic atmosphere, the whole orchestral timbre. It reminds me of Balkan music, which I deeply love.

I also want to mention the outstanding sequencer programming, it actually sounds convinving and natural!

Good evening Kjell,

A most engaging, atmospheric piece, energetic and well scored. Great thematic development. The scoring seemed uncluttered so the build up toward the end came over very clearly.

The slower, calmer section starting around 2'56" giving prominence to the guitar was rather beautiful and I loved the way you gradually brought the orchestra back at approx 4'10" where it started to fill out toward the end.

An accomplished work and, yes, with a touch of Spain.

Thank you Gabriele, glad to get your comment. Yes, it could be Balkan. Actually I had that particular rough drumming in mind when composing but couldn't quite achieve it.

Hi Kjell

The music was very good though newer generations may find the intro a bit longish, but overall very engaging and fun orchestration.

I have some notes on the EQ, the treble seems to have been reduced a little, and the stereo imaging could be more expanse, I suggest using a little bit of treble boost (except maybe on the guitar as it sounded fine to me) and stereo enhancers tuned individually on each instrument (though some might not benefit from this).

Good Luck

Beautiful romantic classical music here Kjell, very well done.  Great theme development and use of dynamics to enhance that. And your orchestration is very well done also, the parts are all supportive and clearly heard through the large dynamic range that you take us through. The guitar section in the middle is very effective, it's hard to blend guitar with orchestra but you've done an excellent job of that here and it gives this piece a beautiful extra color. Thanks for posting this!

Oh, I happen to be unable to put down what I clearly "hear" in my mind so many times xD

I'm pretty sure you'll get what you want sooner or later. Anyway, your touch is already well recognizable. All your music is soaked with plenty of shades and it's really one of a kind.

Thank you very much for your suggestions, for sure something to have in mind.

The intention of the soft parts is merely to enhance the loud parts. I work a lot with contrasts and this piece was an extreme variant of that.

Hi,

The piece has great potential if it would be played by real instruments because dance music especially folk one and or incidental music needs a human touch. The problem I find in the piece is that the sound at times gets too aggressive and loud something that is due to it being performed digitally and is not your fault. There is only that much that you can edit by giving directions to the software instruments. I would like the piece to sound more organic and less mechanical that will transform the piece into a wonderful composition with balance and feel.

Overall a good composition,

Thanks for sharing

Best of Wishes,

Saul

Thank you Saul, valuable comments indeed.

Hi Kjell,

It is nicely orchestrated (a strength of yours I think) with that Atavistic quality I have heard before in past works of yours I have listened to. Thanks for sharing!
