Composers' Forum

Music Composers Unite!

there is a new free notation program out there that is pretty good. It can be found at www.noteflight.com

It is unique because it is based completely in your browser.. that is, there is nothing to download and install. You create an account and your compositions are saved on their site.

It is no where near as complete as Finale or Sibelius, but I really think that it IS better than most other free options. I think that it is better than Finale notepad was.. even before it stopped being free.

After you compose something, it is very easy to share with others and you can even make it where others can edit what you have written and do collaborative work. It can print, and export midi, MusicXML or audio files.

just so you can see what's up, here is a bit of foolishness that i slapped together:

It seems not to have any MIDI support which is quite a lack.

I mean support of any MIDI keayboard and export the score to MIDI file

it'll import and export midi files... but it won't do keyboard input

Hi there Cody, thank you very much for this! I think it will be very good for collaboration and I've added it to a list of "Useful collaborative software" in the Remote Sessions Group.
