Music Composers Unite!
I bought a new graphiccard :nvidia geforceGTX 560 , and after one of my friends installed it, I found that I´ve often got distortion when I worked in Reaper and Sibelius . One guy at the Reaper forum said that nvidias graphic cards often has that impact when working with music software .
Anyone here who has the same experience ? and what shall I do ?
I know there is many here who is good at computers ( I am not )
This is a really frustrating problem .
Anyone who has any advice ?

Any special you will recommend ?
Permalink Reply by Doug Lauber on April 23, 2012 at 5:56pm I use the MOTU UltraLite-mk3 Hybrid. It has multiple ins and outs. USB or Firewire. I use firewire with my Win 7 64bit.
I need multiple connections for doing things like sending a track out to my outboard compressor and/or outboard EQ, and then back into a separate recording channel in my DAW (Sonar) So it goes like this:
Bass track in Sonar > MOTU ch 8 out > outboard compressor(Distressor) > channel 4 in MOTU > new recorded track in Sonar. You may not have a need for that kind of signal chain now, but if you get into recording and mixing, it's a nice luxury later on.

Is it good in your Motu ?
I´m making EAM music in REAPER but my knowledge about studio technique is very bad .

Permalink Reply by Doug Lauber on May 4, 2012 at 3:20am I don't think you should use your video card for music. I like my MOTU Ultra Lite Hybrid. Do you have a MIDI keyboard?
Permalink Reply by Caj Ilotuuli on May 4, 2012 at 4:16am How do I manage to not use the video card for music , more then I have done ? ( I´m not using nvidia´s settings ).
I have M-Audio Key rig 49 .
Permalink Reply by Caj Ilotuuli on May 8, 2012 at 2:37pm I bought Motu Ultralite mk3 Hybrid , but can´t get any sound at all from it . REAPER freezes totally and Sibelius won´t start at all . What is the problem ?

Permalink Reply by Caj Ilotuuli on May 8, 2012 at 6:02pm OK . I first installed the latest drivers ( Setup Audio ) from Motu . But nothing worked until I change USB-port ( I can´t find any firewire port on my motherboard ) , then REAPER and Audio-Mulch worked but in Sibelius I had to change to 48 kHz to avoid glitches . I can´t play an mp3 with windows media player or Qick time , and when I go to the Control panel / sound it says : No audio device is installed , but I can find the Motu hardware under program , but no software .
When I searh in the c-drive I have Cue mix , Motu audio console and Motu SMTPE console among the programs .
No , I don´t have an amp or speakers yet ( only Sennheiser HD 650 headphones ) .Why do I need an amp ?
I thought there was enough with headphones and monitor speakers . Thanks for help .

But how do I setup Windows to send audio to Motu ?
Permalink Reply by Doug Lauber on May 9, 2012 at 12:16am Are you in the USA? Phone MOTU. Have them walk you through the setup.
Permalink Reply by Caj Ilotuuli on May 9, 2012 at 2:31am No , I´m in Sweden , but I registered my Ultralite at Motu , and have sent my setup to them .
But now all seems to work . Both REAPER , Audio-Mulch and Sibelius . (windows media player also)
It sounds really good .
