Music Composers Unite!
This song tells the story of Mr. Malry, a ghoulish vampire who terrorizes his hometown after coming back from the grave (According to the classic vampire legend, a vampire is a living corpse that rises from his or her grave to feast on human blood, usually sleeping people. Vampires cannot enter a person's home without an invitation.) I highly recommend reading the lyrics on the score so that you'll get the full story, which I think came out pretty good.
Before you say it, I know that the song is a bit repetitive with the melodic minor riffs. This was done deliberately to give the song a more classic feel. Please do not be so judgmental of each part in isolation from each other. Like all of my music, the whole is usually greater than the sum of its parts.

Permalink Reply by Anders Christensen on July 16, 2012 at 12:54pm I would love to hear this recorded with a real guitar and some good drums. Overall I really like it.
One thing that I think could make the track better is to make it a bit shorter by only using the best parts. Also the dynamics could be better, but that's practically impossible to do in a good way when using midi samples.
Sounds like quite fast fingers is needed to record this one... and about the classic feel I think you got it right.
Looking forward to the recorded version :-)

Permalink Reply by Tyler Hughes on July 18, 2012 at 9:06pm This is definitely your forte area, one of your best composition you have posted. I like the sound effects really add to the piece, would like to hear it with the actual vocals. And in this genre, I don't see how sheet music would do anything good.
Permalink Reply by Jennifer Brawley on July 19, 2012 at 1:04am I agree with Tyler totally: This is just great!

What an achievement I'm nearly speechless.
Thanks for highlighting the fact that learning to read and notate music is a subject but creating something musical is a skill. ;-)

Very catchy melody line, easily stuck in my head for the rest of the day!
