Jeune Fillette

This charming folk song supposedly dates from the 18th century and apparently was popular in the 19th century both in France and in English speaking countries, since I've seen versions of it in several song books of the period.

My version is for soprano, alto flute, cello, and percussion.

The audio file was generated with software as a demo. The vocal part is synth choral ah voices even though the vocal is supposed to be a single singer.

Comments welcome.

Score pdf and audio file attached, or available at MuseScore Jeune Fillette.

The lyrics:

Jeunne fillette, profitez du temps,
la violette se cueille au printemps,
La la la rirette, la ri lon lan la, La la la rirette, La ri lonlan la,

Cette fleurette passe en peu de temps,
toute amourette passe également.

Dans le bel âge prenez un ami;
s'il est vola ge, rendez le lui.

Jeune fillette, profitezdu temps,
la violette se cueille au printemps,
La la la rirette, la ri lon lan la, La la la rirette la ri lon lan la.
