Music Composers Unite!

Hi all,

So i'll kick it off by saying I don't function like many of you, I can't find inspiration, and i desperately try to compose things that are good, at least to me. And that is always the challenge.

So here way have, still in its infancy, my Isole' Theme based on a fictional town in my mind ^__^

I recently had the revelation that I didn't have to have chords and melody, the chords CAN be the melody! And so this is the product of that...

The dynamics ect. that finale has played aren't 100% to my liking, and it did some weird accents? Oh well. I will post a final version after some input from yall [And when i get the garritan Jazz & Big Band pack, I'm really planning on using a guitar in this, but I'm still a little iffy on instrumentation... any ideas?]

~Chris~

EDIT:

The MP3 is in the next post down, the main post wont let me upload a file to it -________-

I thought it definitely sounded inspired! Great moving lines in the strings that complimented the melody. And its impossible to get those music programs to get the details perfect.
Don't I know it? lol.

It was inspired, but I get those moments VERY rarely. I think i get them by thinking about my little made-up world. IDK we'll see.
I like this piece but the early strings vary a lot in volume and that stood at for me. The swell and piano finish was both inspired and inspiring. The sounds were amazing but I would have chosen softer strings myself.
The tone seems to suggest prosperity, beauty and peace. The images in my mind filt between a picturesque 50s' American town and a Final Fantasy style citadel. If that's what you were trying to convey, well done to you, well done.

By the way, you say you are getting some Garritan stuff soon, what are you using atm?
@James Watson

I was going for an american-apalacian-ballad feel, so picturesque 50's is close enough ^___^

I am currently using the Garritan Personal Orchestra, but in order for the instrumentation I would LIKE to use on this piece, I need a guitar and possibly an accordion.
some definite production issues, but you are stuck with GPO and so there's not much you can do without investing more $$ in samples, etc. As long as you arent intending to sell the music in this state Ill just talk about the writing: I like it, definitely felt like a dream - a beautiful woman in loose white garb being blown by the wind of the ocean, but a hip ocean, somewhere in Greece or something. A kid herding sheep in the mountains as some eagles soar overhead. etc. gave me nice imagery, thanks
Thanks chris!

I don't plan on selling anything I compose as MP3 any time soon, If anything, I belive in having it played by the correct ensemble, in a studio. unrealistic, I know, but Feed the musicians right?

Both of those things are exactly the kind of feel I was hoping for, the setting and everything. nice to know This came out like it should have. i'll make another post for propper musical dissection when I have the correct samples for the ensemble I'm looking for!
