Music Composers Unite!
I have been for years wanting to write a Christmas piece, something short and simple. I finally got to work on one I created this piece. Its for Bass-Baritone and piano, it is very very short and uses Text by Longfellow. Its tone is very modern but still tonal, not to traditional Christmas tone.
The MIDI mock up uses Cello to represent the vocal line
I would like to know what you think of it.

I had never actually never heard original carol oddly enough, I was completely writing based off of my interpretation of the poem.
As far as missing those words, doily noted and corrected.
the dm7/ f add 9 shifting tonalities create a dreamy and melancholy atmosphere. Nice variety in the high piano register. Tonal but never cosy - well done.
One to sing when all the festivities have died down and introspection sets in !
