Help needed - organ part...

Hi all, I have just written a Christmas carol for the local community choir. They have just requested an organ part, although I realise in all these years I have not written an organ part.... Might anyone have some tips for me please? All yhe best, Sacha...

Tips of writing for a church organ ie: how to write into the score the use of stops and pedals etc...
This is so it can be read and played by the organist, rather than a recording or digital simulation of some sort.

Hi Sacha--

If you're using Sibelius 6 there's a soundfont I believe they included with it--"Jeux"--which is a good, free way to start if you cant get to a real organ.

If its not there or you're using SIb 5, (like me) please contact Daniel Spreadbury at Sibelius for help, in obtaining and installing it.

I'm not using any software as its composed using a paper score, but thank you for your advice..

It really is just markings for organ which i am after..

Well, I think it's really as simple as indicating which stop(s) to use at a given moment, and a registration key at the beginning - learn all the names of the stops and what they represent as far as the sound is concerned, and as far as the pedal goes, ^ and v over notes in the pedal staff for left and right toes respectively, and u or o below and above the notes for left heel and right heel, respectively.
