Gingham Lily

New version of 10 June 2019 of a song I wrote some time ago.

Words and music by Jon Corelis. The lyrics are in the score, but for convenience I also give them below.

Score and software-generated audio file on MuseScore.

The vocal is software-generated choral ahs, even though it is supposed to be sung by a single voice.

This is a songbook style score, giving the words and basic melody; in performance accompaniment may be added ad lib.

This work is copyright 2019 by Jon Corelis. You may feel free to share or link to it by the usual means. For performance or recording permission, please see my permissions page.

I'll be glad to receive comments on this song, even if a long time has passed since its original posting.

Thanks, all.

Gingham Lily by Jon Corelis

Hold my hand, Gingham Lily,
lay my head against your breast;
hold my hand, Gingham Lily,
for I've got to take my rest.

I remember when we traveled
across the high plains' drifting snow,
and your body was a mountain
warm as the western glow.

I was born in Virginia,
I grew up in Arkansas,
but I'll die in Arizona,
like any good outlaw.

Hold my hand, Gingham Lily,
lay my head against your breast;
hold my hand, Gingham Lily,
for I've got to take my rest.
