Music Composers Unite!

Mastered my album over the weekend. I thought I'd share it here first. It will be available to buy when it is officially released in a week (lots of album artwork, submissions to itunes and spotify etc. to do yet!)

The album is called Home and all the tracks represent some of the places I have lived at various times.

I'd love to hear what you think. Here is the link to the playlist:

Dear Nigel, the first piece of your album, Towards A Colder Shore, is fantastic! I love it how it builds itself up! What mystery is revealed in the calmness of your piece in the beginning and how you develop it from there! It reminds me a bit of "Spiegel im Spiegel" by A. Pärt, but maybe it even surpasses that great piece....

Hi Gerd,

Thank you - that is high praise indeed. I'm so glad you liked it. The album is now launched and available from Apple Music, iTunes, Amazon music etc. or you can buy it (or individual tracks) direct from my Bandcamp site. I am donating all of the proceeds from sales and streams to the homeless charity Shelter. Link to the site below.

I will also be doing some features on individual tracks showing how they are created on my Facebook Artist's page: https://www.facebook.com/NigelCampbellMusic so follow me on there to be updated when I do that.

Thanks again

I love this genre... I listened to your first track and it was great, I have some suggestions though:
The bass that we hear (like at 2:46) it a little harsh and the attack of the curve seems to be about zero which makes it a wee bit sudden which leads to it being out of place compared to the otherwise mellow instruments in you song.
The panning could be reduce I thought I was in the conductors place rather than the audience.

I loved the synth-like strings at 3:18 . I loved how you landed the airplane at the end -a metaphor for ending-.
Overall a great song

This is very nice, congratulations Nigel.

Favourite tracks : Towards a colder shore, Gosvenor road and Ravens hill.

Thanks Jerome, Glad you enjoyed it.

Thanks - i get the feeling you may be listening to the tracks on Soundcloud? the final masters are on the bandcamp page so those sonic issues are hopefully resolved?

Yes, very nice e.p, i love the first track.

I recently composed an e.p in a somewhat similar state of mind :

Nice work Jerome,

The first track is almost systems music. I really liked the woodwinds too.

The master does seem a bit heavy on the compression (probably going for loudness) but it does squash some of the subtlety in the field recordings and piano dynamics.
