Music Composers Unite!
My musical training began as a preschooler: my mother gave me piano lessons until neither of us could stand it any more, which didn't take too long. I'm sure I started making up tunes soon afterward. I began studying classical organ when I was 10, and continued until I graduated from high school, while also trying to learn every instrument I could get my hands on. I learned choral directing on the fly with a corporate chorus, and as the music director at two Episcopal churches.
I’ve been composing and arranging for almost as long as I’ve been a musician. To date I have about a hundred compositions, about half sacred and half secular, about one third instrumental and two thirds vocal.
Keyboards remain my primary instruments. I’m comfortable enough with a guitar (folk) and recorders to play them on stage, and I mess around with banjo (clawhammer), dulcimer (both kinds), string bass, and bass guitar. My favorite musical genres are early music (including Baroque) and folk.
