Dance for Viola & Basoon no. 1

I wrote two pieces for viola andbasoon for a competition, but never got around to send them in. I didn't feel completely happy with them. But listening to them now I find that I rather like them. The things I'm not quite sure about in this first one is the viola double stops and if the Basoon is given enough time to breath, which wind players frequently like to do, I understand.

How do you write for winds? Do you have to write out all breathing pauses or will the players happily write their own?
