Crazy little thing called score...

"Finished" writing this piece two weeks ago... now I've been proofreading like a dog and adding stuff too, 'til satisfaction overcame me (a few minutes ago).
It's 8 minutes in length and for "mixed ensemble" consisting of: Flute, Clarinet in B, Horn in f, violin, viola, cello/violoncello.

Looking forward to hearing some opinions, since my last posted music was often criticised, as being too atonal and disturbing.

For the midi geniuses in this forum: The Vst used to "play" this is the "smartsoft sync", which is included for finale. Please skip the comments about sound technique (I've been writing alot these days and wish to have more opinions on the composing aspect of my pieces).

Why would you need a score to give critics? I wouldn't see the point... I think you can understand, giving away scores to strangers is not definately the thing to do.

interesting concepts here. I rarely comment on peoples compositions since it is subjective unless looking at things like the production. I personally wish there were more things that would turn me on _as_a_performer_. When I write for orchestra, I try and think of the things that make each instrumentalist in the orchestra have fun, difficult passages involving range, rhythm, or fast lines, maybe some inflection 16, 32, 11tuplet type of runs leading to the landing notes. Nobody enjoys playing whole, half, quarter rhythms. And you kind of have to play orchestra section politics in order to get an inspired performance

I generally like your philosophy of writing music, as you've mentioned above.
A friend tells me often, that I tend to writing too simple in rhythm manners. I will keep this in mind for future compositions.

My question is: What exactly do you mean by orchestra section politics? Maybe a fair division of all parts?

I'd like to hear a few details on that point... Hoping to read more ; )
