Music Composers Unite!
I've been going through The Study of Counterpoint over the last few months and been writing about it along the way. I can't find much material about the topic online and don't really know If I'm on the right track.
I know the music sounds quite stilted and not as free as more modern compositions, but I'm learning as more of a technical exercise.

Your counterpoint examples look okay, go ahead, on to more advanced stuff when you feel that you've internalized what you're studying now. Also, check this out, on youtube, I think he knows his subject well ...

Get Modal Counterpoint: Renaissance Style by Peter Schubert. It's the most thorough book on the subject.

Glad you liked it, I've been working on CounterPoint for a few months like I say but It's just me so I can't easily get feedback from people I know.
Permalink Reply by Gordon Francis Blaney Jr. on September 11, 2012 at 1:00am I'd go on Google Books, IMSLP, and YOUTUBE to research the topic without spending monies. There is also a software program that aids in instructing students on whatever type counterpoint they'd like to do --- the program is called: COUNTERPOINTER.
