Allegro for violin and cello

A short piece for violin and cello in GM. My first time composing for strings, its written in the classical style.

Generally speaking, I don't care about production values, unless they are in the way of me understanding what the composer is trying to say. I felt this to be the case with your piece.

Hi, Gav.

Thank you for taking the time to review my piece. Is it the quality of the midi sound that is getting in the way or the incoherence of my ideas that are obscuring my intentions, or perhaps both? My idea was to present a short melody followed by quick passages in both sections.

Could you recommend a sound font? I agree the violin is poor, the cello isn't too bad.

Well done Papageno, in the classical style. It sounds familiar which means you are following good influences, hopefully not too closely :)  Could use some dynamics?

Your sound production is acceptable to me but your work would be much more enjoyable with a better sound. I see you are using Maestro, probably without a DAW? There are lots of free sounds out there, you should just shop around.  You'll find a lot of us using NotePerformer which at $129 is pretty reasonable for a decent sounding full orchestra but it requires, Sibelius, Finale or Dorico; but you might get a starter version of one of those pretty reasonably as well and no DAW required. Kind of depends on what your future plans are.

Thank you for listening and reviewing my piece. Someone else mentioned the arpeggios reminded them of mozart's musical joke. I managed to find a better violin soundfont so my next string piece won't be as distracting.
