Agnus Dei

I recently composed an Agnus Dei with the latin text from the liturgy.

It is set for mixed choir. I am happy for all comments.

Hi Jan,

It is beautiful but I could not see 'donna eis requiem'

which is the culminating point of Agnus Dei in my opinion.

Agnus Dei, qui tollis peccata mundi, dona eis
requiem.
Agnus Dei, qui tollis peccata mundi, dona eis

Hello Ali,

thanks for your response. Yes, you are right, you refer to the text from the requiem,

whereas I used the text from the liturgy.

(I had thought about expanding the piece to a requiem, but that is now not possible - thanks for the hint. 

Nevertheless, I really like the text from the liturgy a lot and will leave this as a stand-alone work ;))

Certainly some interesting contrapuntal harmony there, difficult for an amateur choir so hopefully you have a fully trained one to hand! 

It definitely has a liturgical feel about it - slow with solemnity.

An advantage in doing digital music is of course that one can bridge the human limitations. Nothing wrong with that, music is music. I am no expert in choir but breathing is a must in reality. Actually, often digital music becomes better if it sounds as close to natural as possible. So that is my advice, at least for wind instruments and choir.

The piece is nice, many new sounds for me making it interesting to listen to.

Thank you Dane for your kind reply. Yes I agree it is difficult for an amateur choir. There are really long notes in there which nevertheless do not need to be held out by one singer at a time. I imagined that a group of singers might be able to keep the long tones stable over the measures. About the contrapuntal - well I tried my best.

Hello Kjell,

good to hear from you. Yes, agreed. The sound's a little artificial. If you want this is only a "demo", of course the goal is to hear this performed by a good choir :) My hope is that a choir can mimic the long notes if they breathe in as unobtrusively as possible. (In the choir I attended for several years breathing was a real problem ;))
