I recently read a story on-line written by a mother who, for religious reasons, did not believe in blood transfusions. At the age of 15, her son was critically injured in a car crash and the doctors and paramedics pleaded with this woman and her husband to allow them to give her son a blood transfusion. Because of their beliefs they refused the transfusion and the boy ended up dying hours later.
The woman writes pages and pages about the regret, the anguish, and remorse she feels for the decision that she made on that tragic day. Her story inspired this piece for piano and solo violin. Here's the link to the piece: http://www.box.net/shared/sd2to4f2h1
Comments are most welcome, especially about the mix. The violin doesn't seem to be placed right in the mix, any suggestions would be most appreciated!
It is sad that the most inspiring music often comes from tragedy. I wish you would upload the piece here so to make it easier for members to listen directly off this page.
Please tell what hardware and software you used to create the music so as we may have an idea into how you could change things if you are not happy. My first thoughts are that the violin has too much constant vibrato but depending on what you have available it may not be possible to change.
I forgot to mention the samples I used, thanks for the heads up! Instrumental sounds are from East West Platinum Orchestra: Solo Violin Q Legato DFX and Steinway B.
I'm not overly happy with the voilin patch. I tried using some of the other solo voilin patches in my library, but I had problems with the sound of the sample stopping too soon after I did crescendos with the mod wheel.
I uploaded the file this time, thanks for the heads up there!
You're using the Mod wheel patch and it does have a bow change when held then it stops. So you can't find a sound you like in the key switch list. Probably C0 with differing velocities would work better low velocity notes start without vibrato but high velocities have strong vibrato. Work the crescendo on cc11?
It was recently brought to my attention that "A Parent's Ultimate Regret" is quite similiar to a composition that already exists. I have removed it from my playlist for that reason. My apologies to the forum.
