Composers' Forum

Music Composers Unite!

This is the format with which folklore is often performed. I had a few themes in my head when I arrived to medieval Croatian town Porec. There in the alleys I frequently could hear wonderful folk songs giving a large impression on me. And I realized it was worth a try to arrange"my" themes accordingly. However "my" in quotation mark since the starting themes are influenced by others as you can hear if you take a listen.

All the best,

Kjell

"Hi Kjell,  As with other things I have heard from you, I hear an atavistic quality, a harkening back. I certainly hear what you describe in your post and maybe even a reaching further back to the time of the ancients (the Greeks?). As such, it seems to me like you have achieved your goal here.

Thanks for sharing!

Hi,

Your piece sounds very much like Beethoven's Middle movement of his 7th Symphony.

I'm sure that it was unintentional. But the themes are almost identical.

Thanks for your comment Gav. It gives me a new interesting perspective of the piece. Nice and valuable to receive that.

Hi Saul and thanks for your comment. Indeed, Beethoven is the inspiration here as I write in the description of the piece on Soundcloud. and also indicate in the intro here. And actually not only 7th symphony but also piano sonata nr 8 (Midnight Blue). I thought I could add something by adding these two themes showing that they belong to each other. And the third following theme is highly borrowed from Schubert's Rosamunde. But next, the guitar dominated intense theme is my own.

Thank you Saul for listening and giving me a valuable comment.

Very pretty, charming and quaint music..very evocative of a visit to an old town, and enjoyable in all ways.

Thanks so much for sharing.

PS Very interesting about the Beethoven!
