Music Composers Unite!

Hey everyone,

Although I am a writer myself I am finding myself playing the role of Producer more and more. I am preparing to produce a series of what I'll refer to as "Concept" shows for play in Casinos, PAC's and Cruise Ships. There will be a need for a lot of medley / suite writing. I'd like to hear from writers with experience in this type of composition

Hi Rob, could you be a little more specific? For example, are you looking for someone to compose and create a printed score of a small musical? Or do you want a produced audio recording?

I have worked on several stage theater musicals as the composer, I seem to get more work from stage theater then the movie theater ;) I havent done arrangements of other peoples work as medleys but I have done quite a few of my own music for the overtures and whatnot of the plays I worked on

My orchestral music for games is written as a suite. You could listen to short samples from each 'movement' of an upcoming game at the top of my website http://www.composerarts.com

When I think of a Suite, I think of Grand Canyon Suite, The Planets or abbreviated ballets, such as Romeo and Juliet or the Nutcracker Suite. Maybe this is not the type of composer you are looking for. I am not really the Casino type of composer, but I'll try anything once. Maybe you'd be interested in more of this type of sound? http://www.composerarts.com/Shuggy_Takes_A_Walk.mp3

In any case, the music I write is highly specific for the purpose, so I'd be interested in talking further about your needs.

Please, watch/ listen in video a sample (the 2 first songs) of an symphonic orchestral medley that I scored with songs of composer Ary Barroso( the composer of song "Brazil",which Brazilian name is "Aquarela do Brasil")

the sound quality is not so good, since it's a dvd made from a video cassete tape made from a live transmission.I can compose/arrange/ orchestrate any style of music, not only Brazilian.I really like American standards style as Beatles stuff too.

My original music( arranged for small ensembles, but could be orchestrated for larger ensembles)you can listen in my page in this composersforum.)

Congratulations, Luciano! The piece sounds great. Although I am not familiar with more than Brazil of Barroso's works, I sensed a stylistic similarity with Brazil, which I am sure means your arrangements are very loyal to the composer's style! I thought the video was a very nice piece, and the acoustics and performance were great.

I'd love to be considered... I am not sure what you might need from me... if it is as much as a vocal track or as much as composing... sounds exciting.

A little late perhaps, but I have arranged medleys for Anniversary shows at theaters in which they wanted short segments of plays/musicals that were previously performed over the years. Former performers with the theater would sing a chorus or two (with pit accomp.) then transition into the next melody.
