I am a composer in an area where cello players are almost impossible to find. I am looking for someone who has the capability to take an mp3 of one of my compositions and put it into their DAW. The cello part would be recorded and then sent back to me as an mp3.
I have the cello part notated in Finale. It should not be a difficult piece to play. It serves as the bass in a piano, guitar, and drum arrangement.
Hi Tim
I'm finally getting round to setting up a wiki for 'virtual musicians' who do just this kind of thing. I normally have a cello player in every week or so doing stuff for me, but I'm finishing up for my jollies this week so can't help. You could try a search on myspace. Here's one who I haven't used (Evva), but a friend who does soundtracks says she is an excellent player with a reasonable home recording set up.
When I get that wiki up and running I'll announce it in here! Good luck.
Thanks for the post! Please let me know when you are up and running. That would be fantastic for those of us who are "midi" musicians. By the way, what is wiki? I guess I'm bad behind the times.

Hi Tim
A wiki is a kind of template for a DIY website. This Ning site comes from another 'template' also, so you can make a website without having to do all the fancy programming!
Wikipedia is the most famous wiki. I use a service called wikispaces - just a few clicks and you make yourself a simple site that is not very fancy but it is easy for folks to collaborate on it. The musicians' virtual session resource will be at virtualmusicians.wikispaces.com, but there's not much on it yet!
Hello Jay!
I already have a cellist for my current project, but would like to have your contact information. As the need arises, I will be more than happy to ask for your help. Please send me your email address and I will keep it on file for future reference.
