Music Composers Unite!

Hi. Can anyone recommend a book for me?

I've just started getting into music for film and TV and wanted some basic advice of how things work here in the uk. For example, if someone asks me to write music for them do I: accept a buy out, grant them a licence, expect a fee plus royalties....etc.....etc..

Really don't understand how it all works.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated :-)

Regards

Matthew

I don't know of a book off the top of my head but I think a good place to start would be the PRS / MCPS site.
I guess there are no rules in the game - it is whatever you can negotiate!
Hi Matthew

In this book you can find a lot of great informations. "All You Need To Know About the Music Business" www.amazon.com/Need-Know-About-Music-Business/dp/0743293185 hope this helps.

Thanks Nino
Here's another one I'm going to try (new edition out early September 2008). It's not specifically about music and media rights but does seem to have chapters on those topics.
The Future of the Music Business
